1. Agreement and eligibility

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and Group Guard (“Group Guard,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). They apply when you visit Group Guard, create an account, use its administrative tools, call its APIs, or use a connected bot or integration.

You must be at least 13 years old, meet the minimum age required where you live, and be legally able to agree to these Terms. If you use Group Guard for a group or organization, you represent that you are authorized to act for it.

2. The service

Group Guard provides tools for authorized teams to review and organize group, member, role, world, instance, badge, audit, and related community information. It also provides APIs and operator-controlled bots that synchronize information made available through connected platforms.

Group Guard is an administrative aid, not an emergency, archival, legal, or safety-critical service. You remain responsible for your community decisions, platform actions, records, and compliance obligations.

3. Authority and permissions

Use Group Guard only for groups, accounts, and information you are authorized to administer. Do not use access granted through Group Guard to monitor, disclose, alter, or act on another community without permission.

You are responsible for ensuring that the roles and permissions assigned to you are appropriate and for promptly reporting access that appears broader than it should be.

4. Accounts and security

Provide accurate information, protect your Group Guard password, API keys, invitation links, and sessions, and tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access. You are responsible for activity performed through your account and credentials.

Never provide Group Guard with your personal VRChat password, authentication token, session cookie, or two-factor code. Group Guard’s automated access uses separately managed, operator-controlled bot identities; it is not a service for sharing or remotely operating a user’s personal VRChat account.

5. VRChat and its API

Group Guard is an independent project and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by VRChat Inc. VRChat names, marks, content, accounts, groups, and platform data remain subject to VRChat’s rules and the rights of their respective owners.

Your use of Group Guard must follow the current VRChat Terms of Service, Community Guidelines, Creator Guidelines, and any applicable group rules. Do not use Group Guard to evade platform enforcement, bypass access controls, impersonate others, scrape data without authority, or perform abusive automation.

VRChat does not provide a formally supported public API for this use. Endpoints, fields, authentication behavior, limits, and availability may change or disappear without warning. As a result, Group Guard features may break, become inaccurate, require changes, pause, or be withdrawn at any time.

We intend to operate as a responsible platform participant by identifying automated clients, caching where appropriate, avoiding synchronized or unmetered requests, honoring rate limits and 429 responses, and applying backoff and jitter after failures. We may slow, disable, or remove features when necessary to protect VRChat, its users, or Group Guard’s continued compliance.

6. Acceptable use

Do not use Group Guard to break the law or platform rules; violate privacy, publicity, intellectual-property, or other rights; harass, threaten, exploit, or deceive people; expose credentials; distribute malware or spam; evade rate limits or security controls; gain unauthorized access; or disrupt Group Guard, VRChat, another service, or another person’s experience.

Do not submit passwords, authentication tokens, financial details, government identifiers, protected health information, or other unnecessary highly sensitive data through notes, forms, API payloads, or support requests.

7. Community data and your input

You keep any rights you hold in notes, settings, reports, and other material you provide. You give Group Guard a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, process, reproduce, format, and display that material only as needed to operate, secure, and support the service at your direction.

Platform-derived information may be incomplete, delayed, or incorrect. Do not treat Group Guard as the authoritative source for urgent moderation, identity, age, safety, or legal decisions; confirm important information through appropriate first-party tools and procedures.

8. Third-party services

Group Guard depends on services operated by others, including VRChat, Discord, hosting, database, and email providers. Those services control their own accounts, systems, availability, and policies. Their terms and privacy notices apply to information they process.

9. Suspension and enforcement

We may investigate reports, restrict features, revoke API access, disable accounts, or remove access when reasonably necessary to protect people or systems, comply with law or platform policy, address security risks, or enforce these Terms. When practical, we will provide notice and an opportunity to resolve the issue.

10. Group Guard ownership

Group Guard’s software, visual design, branding, and original assets are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by applicable law. These Terms do not transfer ownership to you. Third-party names, marks, and data remain the property of their respective owners.

If you voluntarily send feedback, you allow us to use it without restriction or compensation, while we will not publicly identify you as its source without permission.

11. Availability and disclaimers

We work to keep Group Guard reliable, but it is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the extent permitted by law, we disclaim implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and uninterrupted, accurate, or error-free operation. Some jurisdictions do not allow every disclaimer, so these limits apply only as far as the law permits.

12. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, Group Guard will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, opportunities, access, goodwill, or data arising from Group Guard. Our total liability for claims relating to the service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us during the 12 months before the claim or US $100.

These limits do not apply where liability cannot legally be limited, including liability caused by fraud or willful misconduct. You remain responsible for claims caused by your unlawful or unauthorized use of the service to the extent permitted by law.

13. Changes and ending use

You may stop using Group Guard at any time and may ask us to delete your account or personal information. We may change the service or these Terms as the product, connected platforms, or law evolves. We will revise the effective date and, when a change materially affects your rights, require you to review and accept a new version before continuing to use authenticated features.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable in United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where your local consumer law requires otherwise. Courts with lawful jurisdiction may hear disputes the parties cannot resolve informally.
